Al Jazeera English: #FREEAJSTAFF

In December 2013, three Al Jazeera journalists were arrested by Egyptian authorities for simply doing their job. We heard that the UN General Assembly was taking place in September 2014 in New York. So, to grab the attention of world leaders we took over Times Square and the back page of the new York Times featuring an image of a very emotional Statue of Liberty and a strong call to action to #FREEAJSTAFF. On 1st January 2015 the Egyptian Court announced a retrial for the Al Jazeera colleagues. Then on 1st February, thankfully they were released.
